Hope Of Christ Presbyterian Church 44 West White Street in Summit Hill, PA
"Looking forward to new Ministry and Mission."

Hope Of Christ Presbyterian Church (Formerly First Presbyterian Church of Panther Valley)is pleased to welcome you to our Web site!! We merged with The First Presbyterian Church of Tamaqua on Sunday January 13, 2008. Our "new" members from Tamaqua are making themselves at home here at Hope.

We are rather small Presbyterian Church. (Well, the numbers say small as I am writing this.) However we have big hearts and dreams. We are regularly communing 75 people. That number has been on the rise over the past year and a half. Praise the Lord!

Located in Carbon County in the Coal region of Northeastern Pennsylvania., we are one of three churches here in Summit Hill. We minister here with a Methodist, Lutheran (St. Paul’s), and one Roman Catholic Church, (St. Josephs). Our town sits on a plateau on the very top of a mountain (Mt. Jefferson or Sharpe’s Mountain, depending on whom you ask) The Mountain is surrounded by the towns of Jim Thorpe (NE), Nesquehoning (N), Lansford (W), Lehighton (E) and Mahoning (S) and Tamaqua (W).

We are a friendly, caring congregation that works well together.    Reverend Frederick W. Rogers is our "Settled Pastor”. He started with us on Pentecost Sunday in June 2006. Rev. Rogers is an ordained Minister in the United Church of Christ, having served Churches in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He comes to us via “The Formula of Agreement” which allows ordained Clergy from other denominations (RCA, ELCA, UCC, PCUSA) to serve in churches other than the one in which originally ordained.

We will continue to work on our web pages to give you more information. So we are continue to be a "work in progress". Please point to http://pcusa.org for detailed information about our denomination, The Presbyterian Church, USA. You would be welcome to join us in worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30.You might also be interested in taking a look at  the Lehigh Presbytery (our "home" Presbytery).
